Hot foil stamping for logos and packaging

Share this article:

Hot foil stamping transfers a foil layer onto a compatible surface using a heated die and controlled pressure. It creates crisp metallic or coloured details for logos, packaging, cards and selected notebook covers. Gold and silver are common choices, but the available foil and its adhesion must be checked for each material.

What should you check before ordering?

Choose foil stamping when the design relies on clear lines and a limited number of solid foil colours. Gradients and photographic images need another method. Rough textures, coatings, seams and heat-sensitive materials may prevent an even finish. Fine reverse details and large solid areas need a production check. Agree on foil colour, die size and the required finish before approving the artwork.

Send the original artwork, product link or model, final dimensions and placement. For vector logos, use PDF, AI, EPS or SVG with fonts converted to outlines. Photographs need sufficient resolution at the final size. We check fine details and colour reproduction and agree any file corrections before starting.

How to order

Tell us how the product will be used. Include the quantity, artwork, dimensions, placement, deadline and delivery address. We assess the material and method, prepare a quotation and agree the artwork before production. Arrange a sample if precise colour or durability is essential.

How is foil stamping different from blind debossing?

Foil stamping adds a visible foil layer. Blind debossing creates an impression without coloured foil. Depending on the material, the two effects can be combined. A pressed impression does not by itself guarantee resistance to washing, abrasion or outdoor exposure.
