The button opens and closes the canopy; after closing, the shaft is pushed in by hand. The manufacturer calls the model windproof: the ribs are two-section fibreglass, which flexes in a gust better than steel. No umbrella is guaranteed against a storm, but for everyday city wind the construction is sturdier than a standard pocket umbrella.
