An afternoon meeting across town, the forecast said dry – and then it starts to rain. PORTLAND is a five-fold 19-inch umbrella that is only 17 cm long when folded and comes in a rigid EVA case, so it fits a laptop bag, a glovebox or a jacket pocket and is always at hand.
A day with PORTLAND
In the morning the case sits at the bottom of the bag, at lunch the umbrella gets used on the way to a café, and in the evening the wet umbrella goes back into the case without soaking everything else. The small format works especially well as a trade-show gift, in conference bags and for clients who travel a lot.
Material and construction
The canopy is 190T pongee and the frame metal; the umbrella opens and closes manually. The manufacturer describes it as windproof but publishes no wind-speed rating. Open diameter 90 cm, weight 290 g. With its small canopy, PORTLAND is a one-person umbrella.
