Reflective strip and visibility
The umbrella has a reflective strip that catches headlights and adds visibility for pedestrians after dark. Note that it is an extra, not a replacement for a personal reflector or hi-vis vest. It opens and closes manually – a simple mechanism with fewer parts to fail. Frame and ribs are metal, the handle is polypropylene (PP).
RPET fabric and AWARE™ traceability
The canopy is 190T RPET pongee, a polyester made from recycled PET bottles; according to supplier data one canopy uses about 7.6 half-litre bottles. AWARE™ means a physical tracer is added to the fabric and, combined with blockchain records, verifies that genuinely recycled material was used. Honestly, recycled polyester is still plastic, not a plastic-free solution. For every Impact product sold, the manufacturer donates 2% of proceeds to Water.org.
