Advent Calendar with Logo: How to Order a Corporate Advent Calendar
Most business gifts are opened once. An advent calendar with logo, however, is opened every day from 1 to 24 December and reminds the recipient of your company throughout the Christmas month. In this guide we explain which corporate advent calendar to choose, what to put inside, how to plan the design, when to order and how it is taxed in Estonia.
Since 2004, Logotrade has helped companies in Estonia choose and brand promotional gifts that are remembered long after they are handed over. An advent calendar is one such solution.
Why an advent calendar works as a business gift
The advent calendar tradition is simple: on each day of December one window or door is opened to reveal a small surprise. It is exactly this repetition that makes the calendar a strong marketing tool.
- Daily contact – your logo and message stay visible on the recipient's desk or at home for a whole month, not just at the moment the gift is opened.
- Positive emotion – a small daily surprise links your brand to a pleasant routine.
- Suits different target groups – a calendar works for clients, partners and employees alike.
- Worth sharing – a calendar standing in the office also catches the eye of colleagues and visitors.
The range of Christmas calendars has become increasingly diverse in recent years. That is why it is worth thinking before you order about how your calendar will stand out and what content will speak best to your audience.
An advent calendar also works well for internal communication. Behind the doors of a calendar for employees there can be words of thanks, the team's achievements of the year or small shared activities for December. This way the calendar becomes part of your company's Christmas tradition rather than just another gift.
Types of advent calendars
The right type depends on who the calendar is for, the size of your budget and how much of the content you want to design yourself.
Chocolate or sweets calendar
The best-known option, suitable for a broad audience – both a large client base and the whole team. The entire lid and often the back can be used for branding. The budget is usually low to medium; ask in the quote whether the chosen option stays within the tax-free limit for promotional gifts. See the selection in our sweets category.
Tea or coffee calendar
A good fit for office staff and partners who value their daily coffee or tea break. Each window hides one portion of tea or coffee. The lid and box can be branded. The budget is medium, and the calendar comes across as a more grown-up, calmer choice than a sweets calendar.
Calendar with small giveaways
Behind each door there is a small practical item – for example sticky notes, a reflector, a keyring or a pen, which you can also find in our small giveaways range. The logo can go on both the box and the items. The budget is higher and putting the set together takes more time, but the effect lasts longer because the items stay in use after Christmas.
Desk calendar without filling
Cards or messages opened every day: tips, quotes, your company's story or small tasks. This kind of calendar contains no food, so there are no shelf-life concerns. It offers the widest branding options, because the entire content is your design. The budget is low to medium.
A short comparison helps you choose:
| Type | Best for | Branding | Budget |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chocolate or sweets calendar | Broad client base, whole team | Lid and box | Low to medium |
| Tea or coffee calendar | Office staff, partners | Lid and box | Medium |
| Calendar with small giveaways | Key clients, your own team | Box and items | Higher |
| Desk calendar without filling | All target groups | Entire content | Low to medium |
Design: lid, doors and messages
The lid is the most visible part of an advent calendar and it stays on the recipient's desk for a whole month. Start from your brand colours and visual identity, but leave room for the Christmas mood too. The logo does not have to dominate – a discreet logo combined with a strong overall design often works better.
Also think about what is behind the doors. Besides a treat or a giveaway, each day can carry a short message:
- practical tips related to your field;
- important company milestones or the highlights of the year;
- words of thanks to clients and partners;
- special offers or a QR code leading to a Christmas greeting.
If the calendars are sent by post, plan the shipping packaging as well, so that the lid and doors reach the recipient intact and clean. With a smaller number of recipients you can also add the recipient's name or a personal greeting to the lid – this makes the calendar even more personal.
If you do not have in-house design resources, our advertising design service can design the lid and the content. Full-colour and detailed designs can be applied to many materials, for example with UV printing. All our logo branding services can be combined so that packaging and content form a whole.
When to order an advent calendar
Advent calendars are opened from 1 December, so they must be in the recipients' hands by the end of November at the latest. In 2026 the first Sunday of Advent falls on 29 November – many companies want to hand over their calendars then or earlier.
Plan the order in the following steps:
- Choose the calendar type and set the number of recipients and the budget.
- Send a quote request with logo files and the required quantity.
- Approve the design and the proof.
- Production and packing.
- Delivery, so that the calendars reach recipients before 1 December.
Because the calendar is made to order and needs design, proof approval and production, we recommend sending your quote request as early as October. Be sure to ask for the production and delivery time in the quote, and allow a buffer for delivery. If you want the calendars sent directly to clients, include the number of recipients and their addresses in your request.
Taxes and budget
How an advent calendar is taxed depends on who receives it. In Estonia the following basic rules apply:
- To a client or partner, a promotional gift with a logo is free of income tax if it costs up to 21 euros excluding VAT. If the limit is exceeded, the full cost is subject to income tax at 22/78.
- VAT is not charged on a gift costing up to 10 euros excluding VAT. For a set, the costs of all items are added together – for an advent calendar this means the whole calendar with its contents, not a single window.
- To employees, a calendar is a fringe benefit and the 21-euro rule does not apply.
When planning the budget, count the calendar's total cost including design, printing, packaging and, if needed, delivery. If your recipients fall into several groups, it may make sense to choose a calendar within the tax limit for clients and a separate, more prestigious solution for key partners.
You will find the details on the Estonian Tax and Customs Board pages on promotional gifts and on gifts and reception expenses. If in doubt, consult your accountant.
Shelf life and storage
Chocolate, sweets, tea and coffee calendars are food products with a best-before date. Ask the supplier about the shelf life of the products and how to store the calendars before handing them out. Chocolate is sensitive to heat, so calendars should not be kept near a radiator or in direct sunlight.
For food calendars, also ask the supplier for information on ingredients and allergens. If you are handing out calendars to a large number of people, it is good to know whether there is, for example, a lactose-free or vegan option, so that nobody misses out.
If you would like to offer local origin, also see our range of products made in Estonia. If the calendars are handed out over several weeks, plan the storage in advance so that all recipients get a gift of equally good quality.
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order quantity?
It depends on the calendar type and design. Write the quantity you need in your quote request and ask about the minimum quantity in the quote.
Can each door hold a different message?
Yes, if the calendar design allows it. A desk calendar without filling, or a calendar with text printed on the inside of the doors, is particularly well suited to this.
Is an advent calendar a promotional gift?
Yes, if it carries the company logo and its cost for a client stays within the 21-euro limit excluding VAT. Given to employees, it is a fringe benefit.
Can the calendars be sent directly to clients' addresses?
This is worth asking in your quote request. Write to us via our contact page with the number of recipients and where the calendars need to go.
