Power bank with logo and electronics as corporate gifts: what to check

Most people carry a phone, headphones and a laptop every day – and almost everyone has worried about a draining battery at some point. That is why a power bank with logo is one of the most practical corporate gifts: it finds a place in a bag, a car or a suitcase and shows your logo every time it is used. At the same time, electronics is a category with big differences in quality, and a cheap choice can do your brand more harm than good.

In this article we explain what to look for when choosing a power bank or other tech gift, how flight rules apply to power banks and which logo application techniques suit electronics. If you are looking for branded merchandise more broadly, this guide will help you narrow down your choice of tech gift.

Why electronics are a popular corporate gift

A good promotional gift is one that actually gets used. Electronics meet this requirement well: chargers, headphones and speakers are used regularly and often in front of other people – in meetings, on the train or in a café. Every use is a small reminder of your company.

Tech gifts are also perceived as valuable. A quality power bank or wireless charger comes across as a modern and thoughtful choice that suits IT and technology companies as well as other B2B businesses. You will find suitable products in our electronics category.

Think about the recipient before choosing the product. For a sales manager who travels often, a power bank or travel charger is an everyday helper; an office-based specialist may prefer a wireless charging pad, and a trade fair visitor a small cable set. The more closely the gift matches the recipient's needs, the longer it stays in use and the more often your logo is seen.

Power bank with logo: capacity, outputs and USB-C

Power banks vary widely, so before ordering think about how the recipient will use it – mainly for charging a phone around town, for longer trips, or also for a tablet and laptop.

Capacity: mAh and Wh

Power bank capacity is usually given in milliampere-hours (mAh). Flight rules and technical data, however, use watt-hours (Wh), which show the amount of stored energy. Wh can be calculated as mAh × voltage (V) ÷ 1000. For example, a 10,000 mAh power bank at 3.7 V is 37 Wh. The higher the capacity, the more charges – but also the heavier and larger the device.

Outputs and connections

Check how many devices can be charged at once and which connectors the power bank supports. It is convenient if the power bank has at least one USB-C port that works as both input and output. That way the same cable charges both the power bank itself and the phone.

Why choose USB-C

The EU common charger Directive (EU) 2022/2380 requires a USB-C charging port on phones, tablets, cameras, headphones, portable speakers and similar devices from 28.12.2024, and on laptops from 28.04.2026. According to the overview by ComReg, the Irish regulator, power banks are not on the directive's list. Even so, USB-C is the practical choice: it works with most new devices, and the recipient does not have to hunt for a separate cable.

Besides the technical specifications, size, weight and finish also affect how the device is used. A slim power bank with a metal casing suits a representative gift and engraving, while a plastic casing allows company colours and full-colour printing. Also check whether the product has a charge level indicator – it helps the user know when the power bank needs charging. Consider whether the recipient would prefer a small pocket model or a larger device that stays in their bag, and choose a product that fits your brand style and gift budget.

Travelling: power banks in carry-on baggage

Many recipients travel for work, so it is useful to know the flight rules. According to the IATA guidance, power banks count as spare batteries and are allowed only in carry-on baggage, not in checked baggage:

  • up to 100 Wh – allowed without airline approval;
  • 100–160 Wh – requires airline approval;
  • over 160 Wh – not allowed for passengers.

Based on the example above, a 10,000 mAh power bank is well below the 100 Wh limit. Still, advise recipients to always check their airline's own conditions too, as they may be stricter.

Other tech gifts

A power bank is not the only option. Depending on the target group and budget, these also work well:

  • Wireless chargers – a desk charging pad on which the logo is constantly visible.
  • Speakers – a portable speaker suits both the office and leisure time.
  • Headphones – a popular gift, especially for travelling clients and remote-working employees.
  • Cable sets – a multi-tip charging cable is a small but very practical gift.
  • Webcam covers – an affordable and useful giveaway for larger events.

Our most appreciated products are also gathered in our top 10 promotional products. For a more representative gift, see our premium corporate gifts, where tech accessories are often combined with quality materials and elegant packaging.

Tech gifts are easy to combine into sets. For example, a power bank, a multi-tip cable and a branded pouch make a complete travel kit that feels more thoughtful than a single device. When building a set, choose all parts in the same colour and finish and add a short greeting card.

Quality and safety

With lithium battery devices, quality is not just a matter of convenience. A poorly made battery can quickly lose capacity, overheat or stop working – and the reputation of the logo owner suffers with it. Before ordering, check the following:

  • CE marking – the manufacturer's declaration that the product meets EU requirements.
  • Manufacturer – prefer reliable manufacturers whose technical data is clearly stated.
  • Warranty – ask what warranty applies to the product.
  • Realistic capacity – big promises at a very low price are a warning sign.

The cheapest power bank is not always the best choice. It is better to order a smaller quantity of a quality product than a large quantity of devices that end up in a drawer or break quickly.

Also pay attention to the packaging and documentation. Electronics should come with clear instructions for use and packaging that protects the device in transit. If the gift is handed over at a client meeting or event, a proper box makes a much better impression than a simple plastic bag.

Applying a logo to electronics

The technique for branding electronics depends on the casing material, the shape of the surface and the details of the logo:

  • UV printing – allows full-colour, detailed designs on plastic and coated surfaces.
  • Laser engraving – gives a metal casing a durable, elegant result that does not wear off.
  • Pad printing – suits smaller and curved surfaces when the logo is simple and clear.

We are happy to help you choose the right technique. All our logo application services are gathered on the services page, and you will find a wider range of products in our product catalogue.

Electronics often have only a small area for the logo, so the design must be clear and simple. Fine lines and very small text may not remain legible in an engraving or print. Send us your logo as a vector file if possible, and ask for a sample or visual before production so you can see the logo's position and size before confirming the order.

Frequently asked questions

Can I take a power bank on a plane?

Yes, but only in carry-on baggage. Under IATA rules, power banks up to 100 Wh are allowed without approval, 100–160 Wh require airline approval and devices over 160 Wh are not allowed for passengers. Check your airline's conditions too.

Does a power bank have to have USB-C?

This is not a legal requirement for power banks, as they are not on the common charger directive's list. We still recommend USB-C, as it works with most new devices.

Engraving or print?

It depends on the material. Laser engraving suits a metal casing, while UV printing or pad printing suits plastic surfaces. We will specify the right solution in the quote.

Is a tech gift tax-free?

In Estonia, a promotional gift with a logo given to clients is free of income tax up to 21 euros excluding VAT. Above that limit, the full cost is taxed at the rate of 22/78. Gifts to employees are fringe benefits.

What capacity power bank makes a good gift?

For everyday phone charging, a compact model that is easy to carry in a pocket or bag is often enough. If the recipient travels a lot or also charges a tablet, a larger capacity may be the better choice. Just make sure the power bank stays within the flight rules.
